The dressings are made of soft, open-cell foam saturated with the water soluble Burnfree gel. They are light and easily transportable, and a single application is usually effective. The dressings have a foam carrier which allows complete delivery of gel to the burn. Burn freeŽ dressings are non-adherent and the foam base will not shed threads, strands, or fibers that might become embedded in the wound. The smaller Burnfree dressings are ideal for hands and fingers, while the large dressings are big enough to treat a foot, arm, or leg.

When medical assistance is not immediately available, using BURNFREEŽ dressings, along with a gauze covering for further protection, helps the burn area to remain moist for many hours. Utilizing this system also provides physical protection to the burn against further damage and contamination.
