This solar cooker works by focusing the Sun’s rays onto a dark pot (not included) that is enclosed in an oven-roasting bag. This bag traps the heat for cooking it really does get hot! Made from a patented lightweight and flexible hi-tech material, it folds for storage into a 14"x 14"x 2" packet. Great for backpacking, camping and emergencies.

You can bake bread and cook stews and casseroles, using only the energy of the sun. The sun's rays are concentrated with one or more reflectors and collected in a reflective material lined box kit. Its hard to believe, but it works--with temperatures in the oven of 300-350 degrees on a hot sunny day, 175-250 degrees with partial sun and clouds. Since food is cooked slowly at relatively low temperature in a solar oven (as in a crock pot), food retains more of its flavor and vitamins and is quite simply delicious. Cooking in a solar oven retains more of the moisture in the food than in a traditional oven. Place the ingredients in the sun oven in the morning, enjoy your day, and return to a hot meal ready to serve. For days when the sun doesn't shine, you can always go back to your regular stove and use some of the electricity or gas you have saved.

You can cook many kinds of foods using solar sun ovens. you can even pasturize water in an emergency. You just put your food or water into a pot, aim the box at the sun, and you are all set for solar cooking with the free energy of the sun! The oven will heat up and slowly cook your meal during the sunny day. (like a crock pot does) This is great during the summer because you won't heat up your house, and, of course, there is no fuel that is spent! In California, where we live, you can use a solar cooker to cook a beef roast on the shortest day of the year where the outside air temp was only 40F. The air temperature is not important. It is the sunlight that is concentrated into the solar sun oven that produces the heat. An average temperature of about 250 degrees F is easily achieved! You can cook rice, beans, bake bread, cook soups, steam vegetables, almost any recipe can be used in a solar oven. If the recipe calls for higher temperatures you just increase the cooking time. What a great camping and emergency prepardness tool this solar sun oven is, too! Imagine returning from a day of hiking, or fishing to find your dinner completely cooked, hot, and ready to eat.
